Performing random acts of kindness for unsuspecting strangers is community at its finest. We saw lots of surprised faces and even some hugs and kisses from the people that have received a free cup of coffee, lunch or even a haircut.
This year, International Pay it Forward Day inspired more than three million acts of kindness around the world and we thought it was an awesome way to get behind this social movement, give something back to small businesses and their customers (and get them to pay it forward too, of course).
Seeing such positive reactions reminded us of how important it is to be kind, and give life to a movement like this.
Xero paid it forward at over 20 small business around Australia and it was a delight to see customers, business owners and our staff react to such acts of kindness. You can read a few of the experiences below.

Xero ‘paid it forward’ in over 20 businesses throughout Australia.
As part of the initiative Xero has matched every dollar we paid forward with a donation to the fantastic charity of choice, Youth Off the Streets. They have been over the moon to involved in the pay it forward initiative.
“It’s great to see ideas like pay it forward get support from Business. I’d like to thank Xero’s staff and Xero for their generosity. Our services depend on the generosity of others and pay it forward is an excellent way to do it. The funds from pay it forward will be used to support our 35 services across New South Wales, Tasmania and Queensland. We are constantly working with disadvantaged young people to turn their lives around and help them unlock their full potential,” says Father Chris Riley, CEO and Founder at Youth Off The Streets.

So even though the official International Pay It Forward Day was on April 30, we encourage you to shout someone a chiropractic appointment, a lunch, a haircut, a swim – whatever, really, wherever, whenever AND don’t let pay it forward end with you – encourage others to do the same. It’ll make you smile and feel good. It sure did for all of us who took part in #xeropaysitforward.
