The internet’s takeover of global communications has been almost instant in historical terms. In 1993, it was only responsible for 1% of the information flowing through two-way telecommunications networks. In 2000, this had risen to 51% and by 2007 97% of information was disseminated this way and it continues to grow at lightning speed.
For small businesses, the internet has provided a raft of opportunities to develop and grow and levelled the playing field by offering low cost ways of testing and rolling out new business models and ideas quickly.
Here, we look at what the future holds for small businesses online and the opportunities that exist for those embracing advancements in the online world.
