The internet has democratized software development for the masses. We continue to see more great B2B software across the planet that provides big business features for small business prices.
Of course, small businesses are all different and have unique needs when they operate in the same niche. They want flexible solutions that solve their specific needs – a collection of easy-to-use apps that work together.
The Summit: an event for the small business cloud software industry
On May 20th and 21st, hundreds of dealmakers from B2B software companies are meeting in San Jose, California for The Summit. The event is organized by a trade association called the The Small Business Web (of which I’m a board member).
The Small Business Web promotes an open web where anyone can build, sell, and use software using an infrastructure held in common by all. The core vision for The Small Business Web is open standards across the web, and open APIs where data can flow back and forth freely from application to application. The setup of those connections is click-simple. At Xero we use the same mantra and have placed a huge emphasis on the Xero API. Getting your apps to work together should be like signing into Facebook.
This is the fifth year of The Summit and it continues to get bigger and better, but still remains intimate. If you are a B2B software maker focused on small business, this is a great event to attend.
