More startups launched in David Cameron’s constituency during the last parliament than Labour leader Ed Miliband’s and Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg’s.
During the last five years 3,494 businesses launched in David Cameron’s constituency Witney, 2,901 in Ed Miliband’s constituency Doncaster North and 2,104 in Nick Clegg’s constituency Sheffield Hallam according to research by Company Check.
However, more businesses in Doncaster North took advantage of the government’s Start Up Loans scheme, which provides finance and a mentor to small businesses, with 31 using the scheme to borrow a total of £130,143 last year, according to data released by the Department for Business. This compares to 25 in Sheffield, Hallam, and 13 in Witney.
