February one of busiest months for startups since start of recession

The number of new companies being created increased 7% year on year in February, reaching the third highest level since the start of the recession.

There were 51,596 incorporations in February 2015, according to the latest Companies House statistics , compared to 55,602 in March and 54,692 in April last year.

There were 28,355 dissolutions during February, causing the number of active companies to reach 3,440,919.

In a press release, Companies House said: “In the UK in February 2015, there were 1,926 company liquidations and 228 insolvency proceedings notifications, with 80,692 companies in the process of Insolvency at the end of February 2015”.
