An accounts software is a computer program that helps accounting professionals record and report a firm’s financial transactions. Today, large and small businesses are all in need of good accounts software to remain competent in their respective industries. The types of account software used today are:

1. Commercial Accounting Software

• This is the ideal accounts software for small- to medium-sized businesses. It is equipped to handle most accounting needs and is designed to work with any type of business. Some programs even have an added feature of allowing users to customise their functions. There are many types of commercial accounting software available today, each one offering its own strengths and features.

2. Spreadsheets

• These are the most basic of accounting software, with many options like the Microsoft Excel or Google Spreadsheets. Spreadsheets are suited for doing simple jobs and basic accounting tasks like inputting financial data (e.g. sales and expenses). However, it is not recommended using this type of software exclusively as spreadsheets are made to complement other processes.

3. Enterprise Accounting Software

• This type of accounts software is used by large companies to handle complex data and operations. Other accounting processes such as workflow management or project planning may be included with enterprise accounting software.
