Britain's economy 'needs immigrants', says former Goldman Sachs chief

Jim O'Neill, the former chief economist at Goldman Sachs, has said immigrants are crucial to the future success of the British economy.

Speaking at ‘SUMMIT: The Future of Growth’ at Bloomberg’s HQ in London, O'Neill cited Apple’s growth in China as a success story driven by the demographic spread of its employees.

The economist also predicted that the so-called 'Northern Powerhouse’ could increase Britain’s growth rate up by 10%.
