18 entrepreneurs on Forbes list of the world’s most powerful women

Forbes’ list of the world’s 100 most powerful women includes 18 who founded their own companies or foundations.

The 100 includes “exceptional icons who impact business, media, philanthropy, politics and more” and German Chancellor Angela Merkel is number one.

The entrepreneurs in the top 100 include Lucy Peng, co-founder of Alibaba, Arianna Huffington, founder of the Huffington Post, and Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Theranos and the world’s youngest self-made billionaire.

Melinda Gates (number 3)
Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Melinda focuses heavily on philanthropy and the reproductive health of women in developing countries.

Oprah (number 12)
Winfrey continues to build success, spending the fall of 2014 on her The Life You Want tour around the country.

Beyoncé (number 21)
