VAT expert Les Howard is our first guest blogger. This week, he takls about the EU Commissioner’s ‘rethink’ on the new EU VAT rules on digital services.
The EU Commission is having a re-think! This is due to effective pressure brought by many business people working together.
Whilst the actual changes to VATMOSS to date are few, it does seem that further relaxation to the rules will follow.
The introduction of a VATMOSS threshold will be welcomed by many. However, the issue of data collection, to verify customer location, remains a real concern.
Many sellers have experienced a real problem in obtaining two non-contradictory pieces of evidence to confirm the location.
There has also been some anecdotal evidence of misleading and inaccurate information being provided to sellers.
